B Ninety-Wha?

Some of you Pop Lovin Pittsburghers might have noticed that B-94 or B-93-7 or whatever they called themselves changed their format Monday morning; they are know known as K-Rock and will be carrying Howard Stern on the 19th. I’m not writing this about Stern, he can bite me, but rather the topic of interest is their new format which can only be called: …what the hell?Ok so from what I’ve heard about the station, they are going after the golden demographic, men 18 to 35. So they are competing directly with WDVE and The X, so what music did they decide to play? Well that’s easy; they take all the songs that both stations play, and alternate, one old, one new, one old. I shit you not; they just went from the Beastie Boys to Foghat. This morning on the drive in they went from ZZ Top, to 3 Doors Down, to Guess Who, to Jet, to Queen. The old songs they play are some of what I’d call the Worst of WDVE, really heavy on the southern rock, it’s almost more like the play list from Channel 97. I can’t image that this format will appeal to the people who really like the classic rock on WDVE and Channel 97. I can’t see them sitting through Linkin Park or Jet in the middle of their rock block. And I want to meet the X listeners who are jonesing for The Allman Brothers. There are no DJ’s on the air yet, I don’t know if they are hiring them or if K-Rock is going to be a ghost station run from another city. I just want the station manager come on and explain their format. I guess it can be argued that what they are doing is working I’m listening to it, but not because I like the music, but I just want to hear what song they are going to play next, if I have to sit through another Boston song, I can’t be held responsible for my actions.Oh yeah one last thing that’s great is that they are honoring their old advertising obligations, so Skynard may be followed up by an acne commercial or a Christina Agulara appearance. That’s just great imagery.Update:I'm now sick of the radio station, I had it on at work for the day and it seems that during workhours they play 4 to 1 old song ratio. They really do play the WORST of WDVE, and the constant Stern promotions annoying. I won't be listening to this too much anymore.
