Revenge of the Rancorous Refrigerator

With our vacation coming up, something bad was bound to happen to us right? You may remember last year when we went to Cedar Point our ice maker got stuck in fill mode and flooded my house with water. Well Saturday the fridge decided that he wasn’t going to let us go on our cruise without acting up again.Saturday I was deep cleaning the fridge, you know the kind of cleaning where you take out the shelves and find some of the most amazing specimens of preserved food and living organisms deep down under the vegetable crisper. In the process of cleaning I thought that it might be an efficient thing to do if I turned off the fridge part while I was cleaning so save some electricity. Once I was finished I put all the food back in and turned the fridge on, and it all seemed fine.Our fridge has been in the twilight of his career ever since last summer’s incident, ever since we have had to push the temperature control cooler and cooler to keep the fridge at the same temperature. It ran all night and has been running since.I always wanted to believe that our fridge was a happy fridge and that he would last another year or more, but with this incident we decided it was time to bite the bullet. We went to Sears, we picked out a new fridge. It’s a pretty cheap one, but it has a filtered water dispenser, but don’t tell the brita filter, I don’t want it to poison me before I retire it.As for the old fridge I haven’t dared pushing it back into it’s cubby because it’s running. So now it’s sitting in the middle of my kitchen taking up tons of space, still flipping me the bird.
